Welcome Pack help – website design

7th August 2026

Designing your website is one of the most exciting parts of the process. The ‘Website design’ section of your Welcome Pack helps us understand the look and feel you want, so we can create a website that reflects your brand. You don’t need to have everything figured out; it’s simply there to point us in the right direction.

In this article, we’ll explain what to include in this section and why it’s helpful to our designers.

1. Your website name

We need to know your company name exactly as you’d like it to appear on your website. Business names can change between signing up and completing the Welcome Pack, so confirming it here helps us update our records and use the correct name throughout your website.

2. Your preferred colours

We need to know the colours that you’d like to use on the website. If you already have brand colours, let us know what they are.

You can:

  • Share specific colours, such as sage green or colours from your logo
  • Provide hex codes if you have them, such as #000000
  • If available, upload your brand guidelines to the content section of the Welcome Pack

If you’re not sure exactly which colours you want, tell us which colours you like and we can create a suitable palette for you.

Your colour choices will influence the overall feel of your website, so this step helps us align the design with your brand.

3. Tell us about the look & feel

Telling us how you’d like your website to look and feel is incredibly helpful to our designers. It gives us a clearer sense of your preferences, including what you do and don’t like.

Tell us a bit about how your website should look

This is where you can guide us creatively. Think about the overall style you’re aiming for. There’s no right or wrong answer; we simply want to understand the direction you’re leaning towards.

For example:

  • Clean and minimal
  • Bold and modern
  • Classic and professional
  • Warm and welcoming

Tell us what you would like us to avoid

Knowing what you don’t like is just as important as knowing what you do like. It helps us avoid going down the wrong path and saves time during the design process.

Let us know if there’s anything you don’t want, such as:

  • Certain colours
  • Busy or cluttered layouts
  • Specific styles that don’t fit your brand

General design guidance

If you have any other thoughts, ideas, or preferences, include them here. Even small details can make a big difference in shaping the final design.

This could be:

  • A particular style you like
  • The type of impression you want to give
  • How you want users to feel when they visit your site

What we don’t need yet

To keep things simple and focused, there are a few things you don’t need to include in this section.

  • Pages and Content – Use the dedicated section of the Welcome Pack for this information.
  • Websites You Like – Use the dedicated section of the Welcome Pack for these examples.
  • Your Web Address or Email Requirements – Use the dedicated section of the Welcome Pack for this information.

4. The next step: show us designs you like

Here you’ll be asked to share examples of websites you like the look of. These examples help our design team understand your preferences and align our ideas with your expectations.

When choosing examples:

  • You can select from our portfolio or any website on the web
  • Try to pick a few different examples that reflect your style
  • Focus on overall design rather than content

Tell us why you like them

Alongside your examples, include a short explanation of what you like about each one. This context is key. Two people can like the same website for completely different reasons, so your explanation helps us understand what stands out to you.

For example:

  • “I like how clean and simple this layout is.”
  • “The colours feel modern and bold.”
  • “This design feels really professional and easy to navigate.”

Summary

This part of the Welcome Pack is all about direction, not detail. You don’t need to design your website; that’s what we’re here for. The more insight you can give us into your preferences, the easier it is for us to create something that feels right for your business.

If you’re unsure about anything, just share what you can. We’ll take your ideas and turn them into a design that works.
